COAL Newsletter, September 2024

Hello,
On September 21st, the world celebrated the International Day of Peace, and we are reminded of the millions of children deprived of basic needs due to conflict and crises. An estimated 72 million children worldwide cannot attend school, and those who do often struggle with reading and math proficiency. Girls are particularly affected, with 53% of out-of-school children being girls. Additionally, 17% have functional difficulties, and 21% have been forcibly displaced. Nearly half of these out-of-school children are concentrated in eight countries including Nigeria (ECW, 2023).

COAL Micro Education Grant Project
We are excited to partner with the Claire Aid Foundation, Patris Empowerment Initiative, and Uplifting our Children to provide accelerated literacy learning to 125 children and teens across three Local Government Areas in Plateau State (Jos South, Jos North, and Bassa) Nigeria. This initiative will see children affected by conflict enrolled in school and boost literacy skills for the target group.
But it takes a village to raise a child and we need your support.
